Is there a better place to live than our parish on day like this?
Walking the Kennet and Avon Canal between locks 16-21 today every person and pooch greeted me with a warm welcome. cyclist were patient and courteous, anglers were engaging and willing to share tales of the biodiversity beneath the surface.
Boaters, either day trippers, holiday makers or liveaboards all shared and demonstrated good practice with me about using locks and swing bridges. However, if they knew it or not, they all owed a gratitude to the conscientious, driven and focused work of Chris and Sally, both volunteers of the Canal & River Trust who are the custodians of this amazing asset on our doorstep.
In National Volunteer week please join me in recognising their hard work! If you would like to volunteer to help to ensure our parish is a great place to live, please let me know in the comments below or email me at clerk@seenparishcouncil.co.uk You can volunteer with Chirs and Sally, become a councillor or be part of a working party within the parish. Either way you will be welcomed with open arms, I can ensure you!
Lucky for me the canal footpath brought me to the The Barge Inn, Seend Cleeve and it was only a few minutes further to the The Brewery Inn, Seend Cleeve. Both pubs were serving fantastic Sunday lunches and welcomed children and dogs.
